Any french bulldog breeder who offers a puppy for sale is likely to state that his/her puppies are the best.
This is one of the most popular breeds and though the dog was bred to be a working dog centuries ago it still retains its working qualities. The ancestors of the breed are used in obedience competitions, as military service dogs, guardians, and so forth. These dogs are also good pets and companions. Though these are healthy dogs, they still can be prone to eye and heart problems and experience respiratory difficulties. Skin problems are also a great concern of breed owners. Cancer and hypothyroidism are also diseases associated with these dogs.

The most prominent physical attribute of this breed is erect bat ears. There are two size varieties of these dogs: between 19 and 22 pounds and between 22 and 28 pounds. Dogs over 28 pounds are disqualified from shows. Like all their relatives, these dogs have a very large head in proportion to the body. The chest of these dogs should be wide; the body is short and muscular; the legs are stout and well muscled. the coat of these dogs is short, lying close to the body.
